Today we continued with the team building exercises.  At both orphanages we played a game called mine sweeper.  Using the tiles on the floor as different spaces the children could step on, they had to navigate their way to safety on the other side of the "mine field".  Becca and I would predetermine where the mines were placed, and each time they stepped on one, they would have to return to the beginning.  The game required the children to work as a team to direct on another to avoid the mines they had previously stepped on.  This worked well and the group had fun.

We also put together a video and photo scavenger hunt.  We gave them a a list of tasks which they had to either photo or video, and provided a time limit which the entire task sheet needed to be completed by.  This was a great game!  The group enjoyed snapping photos and videos of one another, and we reenforced reading comprehension by requiring them to read the directions in english.  We also ended up with a phone full of hilarious videos and photos which of course was a bonus :)

We have found value in the team exercises.  Each task they complete, they seem more apt and able to work with one another.  Requiring them to work together to create a strategy and support one another is not only useful for completing the games, its a skill they should carry with them forward in life.
