May 25th, 2018

The morning was spent preparing a lesson plan for the evening session with the Kalyehli Orphanage, and attempting to make contact with the NAB School for the Blind. Unfortunately, the management personnel we needed to meet regarding the future of the Kullu Project with the school was not present, however a meeting has been set up for Monday May 28th 2018.

Our first real session with the Kalyehli Orphanage went extraordinarily well. We engaged with the children on a far more personal basis than in our first meeting, and we feel that going forward the program will be a real success here. The day’s activities included name games, duck duck goose, wink wink murder, stand up sit down, and an acoustic rendition (we brought guitar) of “Let me Love You” as requested by the boys during the initial meet and greet.

These young boys are incredibly welcoming and easy to work with. They treat each other with respect and encouragement, and are very eager to engage with us.

We brought name stickers which were distributed at the beginning of the session in order to help us learn their names. We then took a photo of each child wearing their name badge to use in the profiles to be created later.
The song we sang at the end of the session was a real hit! After going through it once, the kids were all excited to sing along, so we did a bit of a call and answer singing session. It was a lovely way to end the day.
